Does a tankless water heater save on water usage?

Did you know that a tankless water heater is a far superior, energy-efficient,  and durable water heating option compared to your traditional tank water heater? It significantly reduces water usage because the water is not stored in a tank, like a traditional water heater. The water is only heated when needed, which is why it has cleverly been named – the On-Demand Water Heater.  It will save you space, water and energy usage, time, and a lot of money in the long run.

This system is ideal for smaller bathrooms with minimal hot water requirements. There are many advantages and disadvantages to a Tankless Water Heater, but below are some of the most significant Pros and Cons

PROS

  1. INSTANT HOT WATER:  Once you flush out the cold water from the tap to the pipes, the tankless water heater will provide a flow of hot water instantly.  It doesn’t need a tank of water for it to work.
  2. LONGER LIFE SPAN: These items are durable as they only run on demand, they generally last longer.
  3. LOWER MONTHLY COST: As you are not running these systems all day, you can generally expect a lower cost.
  4. SAVE SPACE:  If you have a smaller bathroom, this unit is ideal.
  5. ELIMINATES STANDBY LOSS:  No one home? Then there is no need for your water heater to be running. This heater allows you to reduce standby loss of heating up the water when no one is using it.

CONS

    1. INCONSISTENT TEMPERATURE: There can be issues of inconsistent temperature. If you leave your tap running or leaking, the heater will continuously run. If you then try and use the system, the heater might struggle to supply enough hot water after a large drain on the system, especially if you are using multiple outlets simultaneously
    2. COSTLY: While these units can have a higher initial cost to
set up, the added lifespan and reduced energy consumption can outweigh
      the additional costs.
    3. GAS LINE REROUTE: Depending on your current setup, you may require to add additional venting or to reroute the gas line to install this system.
    4. ADDITIONAL EXPENSE OFFSET: These systems are cheaper to run,
but it can take a few years to save the additional cost of installation
      from your monthly savings

Overall, we believe that the cost benefits and benefits to the environment far outweigh the initial setup costs incurred from setting up a tankless hot water heater system.

Your dream home may not always be brand new, with fresh paint and home essentials. There are certain moments wherein years of work, renovation and sweat is necessary before your dream house takes its form. And when you get the perfect paint, the ideal furniture, the best lights, you should also take into consideration your plumbing system.

The most common mistake people commit whenever renovating is, waiting until they find problems before they make changes in their plumbing system. Remember that when renovating, modifications are not only made on your home's facade or interiors. There could also be changes on an added shower for example, or a new kitchen sink. And these changes could adversely affect your current plumbing system. Another difficulty that you should also consider is the possibility that damages may occur during the renovation.

It is simply a fact. There are numerous things that could transpire during renovations, and not all of them are good. Instead of being caught with blocked drains during your house warming and calling an emergency plumber, why not take the necessary precautions.

Consult your plumbing contractor before starting your home improvement. Plumbing consultants are able to give you the best options before you are faced with slow drains, toilet leaks or rattling pipes.
